The Trustees of the French Huguenot Church of London Charitable Trust generously provide funds to support the work of a historian researching any aspect of the history of the French, the Dutch, the Flemish or the Walloon Protestants from the 16th century to the present, in any geographical area.
Courtesy of the Trust, a bursary of £4,000 is available to scholars at any career stage. It is intended to support a period of archival research leading to a publication or completion of a doctoral thesis. The award may be used to support travel, accommodation, subsistence, and research expenses. Awards are not restricted to applicants based in the UK, but the Trustees require that resulting publications be in English.
Those who receive the award may use the IHR as a base if working in London and participate in its activities as appropriate. They must also write a short piece on their research for the IHR’s On History Blog and will be invited to meet the Trustees and those of the Huguenot Society to discuss their work. When making their application, candidates must indicate a clear journey from the work to be supported to research outputs and must acknowledge this funding within the resulting publication(s).
Applications must include:
- A covering letter, indicating publication trajectory.
- A CV
- A 500-word summary of the research to be undertaken. This must be on some aspect of Huguenot History.
- The name of one referee.
